SMM April 30 News: This week, the operating rate of galvanising producers was recorded at 49.61%, a decrease of 12.83 percentage points WoW. In terms of raw material inventory, zinc prices maintained a fluctuating trend this week, with downstream purchase sentiment being average. However, as downstream enterprises had locked in prices more frequently in the early stage, they gradually picked up goods or focused on long-term contracts, leading to an increase in zinc ingot inventory. The weekly operating rate pulled back, primarily due to the Labour Day holiday this week, with most galvanising enterprises arranging holidays ranging from 1 to 5 days, significantly impacting the operating rate. For galvanized pipes, steel prices pulled back this week, resulting in poor sales of galvanized pipes. Downstream traders began to take holidays one after another from the 28th, slowing down the pace of purchases. Additionally, with some pipe factories stocking up before the Labour Day holiday, finished product inventories accumulated significantly. As most enterprises were not optimistic about the subsequent demand for galvanized pipes, production schedules after the holiday were slightly reduced. For galvanized structural components: The 15th batch of centralized tender announcement for the procurement of ultra-high voltage engineering steel towers in 2025 was issued, with a total steel tower scale of 568,000 mt and a guide rail device scale of 631,000 meters. Ultra-high voltage orders began to be gradually released, with overall steel tower orders performing well. Most steel tower galvanising enterprises did not arrange holidays during the Labour Day holiday. It is expected that downstream enterprises will basically resume normal production next week, with the operating rate expected to rise to 61.43%.
